Award for high design quality: SCUBAJET receives Red Dot

Apr, 13 2018

SCUBAJET came out on top of all submitted products from more than 59 countries and won the “Red Dot” in the category “Product Design”. Since 1955 outstanding designs, that satisfy in form and function have been awarded with the Red Dot Design Award.

Right from the start of our Kickstarter campaign, we have always been pointing out, how important our product’s high quality is to us. Both security and function of the individual components as well as the design have to meet high standards. The Red Dot recognizes that: excellent design combined with extraordinary functionality.

The award in the category “Product Design” is our first Red Dot Award and we are exceptionally proud of it. After all, our SCUBAJET has run through a complete relaunch last year. We are proud of how far we have come in this short amount of time – in product development as well as in the whole design process. The hydrodynamic design now meets our high standards in function, quality and innovation, so our efforts finally pay off. We feel really honoured to be awarded with the Red Dot and are excited that our product convinced once again – especially the top-level Red Dot Jury.

“I want to congratulate the award winners sincerely on their wonderful success in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018. Success in the competition is proof of the good design quality of the products and once again shows that companies are on the right path. When I speak about good design, I am referring to more than just an attractive product. All of the products are characterised by outstanding functionality. This demonstrates that the designers have understood their clients and their needs”, said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award.

In 2018, designers and manufacturers from 59 countries submitted more than 6,300 objects to the competition. True to the motto “In search of good design and innovation”, a jury comprising roughly 40 members assessed the products individually based on the original. The strict judging criteria, which include level of innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics and durability, provide a frame of reference which the jurors then complement with their own expertise. At this point, we want to state, how thankful we are. On the one hand for this great award, on the other hand for the support we experience from our community, our clients, our partners and of course every single team member.
