My name is Wolfgang Falk, I am a passionate diver since 1999. For some years, I have been a professional diver and diving instructor now. I live in the south of Austria, more precisely in Klagenfurt at Lake Woerthersee. My favourite diving areas are the local lakes as well as the near Adria and also tropical warm-water areas.
What was the first thing that came to your mind when you held the SCUBAJET in your hands for the first time?
I thought: What a fancy toy!
And you changed your opinion about that?
Yes, after I first tested it and I felt the power of the SCUBAJET, it became clear, that this is a serious product. After the first underwater test session, I was completely convinced – SCUBAJET is a revolution in recreational diving and the XR sector.
As a dive shop owner and diving instructor, you are dealing with diving on a professional basis. In which fields will professional divers be able to profit from SCUBAJET as a product?
My main business area is recreational diving, so I cannot give you a clear statement here. From my experience with professional diving equipment, I’d classify the SCUBAJET as a convenient accessory. Especially in the field of search operations, the diver gets an extended range and reach. If you have to do salvage work, you can easily fix the SCUBAJET on your equipment, so your hands are free.
How about your diving students? Will you use the SCUBAJET during instructions and courses together with your clients?
Of course, I will – but not with beginners. We have special advanced training courses for scooter handling, that points out advantages and risks while using dive scooters. Besides diving courses, the SCUBAJET will definitely serve for guided diving tours. So my clients may experience and see new destinations, which would be out of reach without a scooter.
You take pictures and film under water as well – Is the SCUBAJET a distraction?
Generally speaking, the SCUBAJET does not distract me when taking pictures or videos, because it can easily be fixed to the diving equipment. So my hands are free and I can handle the video equipment without any compromises. The same applies to underwater photography.
What are the three main advantages over conventional dive scooters?
Weight, handling, maintainability and the price. OK, that would be four.
Can you think of any features, that should be enhanced?
A crotch strap and some kind of travel case with a dry space for the backup batteries would be some nice to have accessories.
What do you think, is the SCUBAJET’s highest potential?
There are a few. There is the ambitious recreational diver, who wants to extend his reach and is able to take off to new diving destinations combined with an XR course. Then we have an ever growing group of divers, who can tend to their hobby despite their advanced age or disabilities. And last but not least, the dive centers, which open up to new clients and markets by offering SCUBAJET rental services.
